Here are my 06 results

Video card remained the same for both tests

The difference between the the clocked and standard settings are: CPU 8.8% FSB 37.5% and Memory 18% = +69pts

4652 clocked
4583 not clocked

Same class of hardware... dual core AMD and 7xxx series card but on WinXP x64, but not DDR2

I will run 3DMark 03 now

I do know this Richard... you and I both know 3DMark is not going to show the true performance in a game gain. I do know that clocking up the video card with the system clocked add a huge chunk to the mix simply because the added clock on the card takes advantage of the system clock.

I will post the 03 results in a few

I dropped down to 248@1.65v before I could get 2 consecutive runs.

03@Default = 18358
03@249      = 18740
03@248      = 18687

Max Temp=54 Deg

Last night I set bios to default then made a run, after the run I clocked up my GPU, made a run and lost points. Went to bed right after that one.

That jives

@ 248 you are showing a 1.8% increase for 03 as compared to my 1.7%
@ 249 you are showing a 2.0% increase for 03 as compared to my 1.7%

So it is stable at 1.65v now. 54c is fine. If it remains under 60 you are A-OK to run.

About your card(s) what is the default core and memory and what do you clock them up to

Clock speed is 500MHz and 1.2GHz

I can run stable at 575 and 1.33 with no problem.

Apparently there is a wall on that processor which 03 brings to the surface. It is my favorite O/c test program because of the load it can generate.

I am wondering based on what I see here if it would be better for you to go back to 3200 @ 1.60v and see if 03 runs stable. If it does then it may be best to lock you in at that number and then bring up the skew to see if it will boost the memory (just thinking and typing out loud here)

If you clocked up the GPU -with- a system clock -and- the score dropped... the ONLY thing I can think of is that motherboard is throttling the PCIe slots through Linkboost or some other setting.

I do know that if the setting in the BIOS: PEG Link Mode [Auto] may also have an effect but it should only boost, not retard. LinkBoots has the ability to boost -and- retard on system demand.

I used Coolbit to do the GPU clocking if that makes any difference.

I will give it a try at the current settings and see what happens

Just for giggles I will go through the same test except drop my card to default. Lets see if they show a similar % in performance. If they do then I would say its on track, if they dont and you loose pts... something in that motherboard is not right.

I would start to suspect either the BIOS or the motherboard itself at that point

Good night ... we will continue the investigation as time permits

Mine was 10518 @ default video with the system clocked. 12668 was the high. That is a +2150 or +20.4% when my card is clocked up with the system.

Yours is 20406 @ with everything clocked. 18687 was the low under the same condition. That is +1719 or +9.2% when you clocked up the card and the system.

When I look at the 2 systems and see that mine is running a bit higher index than yours in the clock (not speed but % over default) and my video card runs a G71 core @ 625/1.4 over your 575/1.33

The absolute max I have ever had it to was 595@1.39 but it would not hold it.

Will talk to you tomorrow, thanks again for the help
