Refresh rate

Postby Bubblehead » Tue May 01, 2007 11:05 am

I noticed that in the Nvidia Setting, the screen refresh rate is now up to 175. Mine is presently set at 85. My monitor is a Viewsonic VA912b flatpanel. Every so often when I up my resolution I get this warning about refresh rates. What do you think is an ideal setting?

Viewsonic driver page,..

http://www.viewsonic.com/support/driver ... me=monitor

make sure you get the right SIGNED driver for your OS and READ the info posted there at the top of the page

product page:
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/deskt ... /index.htm

1280 x 1024 x 32

From the Manual:

Using the LCD Display

Setting the Timing Mode

Setting the timing mode is important for maximizing the quality of the screen image and
minimizing eye strain. The timing mode consists of the resolution (example 1280 x 1024) and
refresh rate (or vertical frequency; example 60 Hz). After setting the timing mode, use the
OSD (On-screen Display) controls to adjust the screen image.

For the best picture quality set your LCD display timing mode to:
VESA 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz.

To set the Timing Mode:
1. Set the resolution: Right-click on the Windows desktop > Properties > Settings > set the
resolution.

2. Set the refresh rate: See your graphic card's user guide for instructions.

WARNING: Do not set the graphics card in your computer to exceed the maximum refresh
rate of 75Hz; doing so may result in permanent damage to your LCD display.

FOLLOW UP...

After reading the manual

RIF Reading Is Fundamental

Here are the specs @ resolution:

Resolution Recommended and supported

1280 x 1024 @ 60, 70, 72 Hz
1024 x 768 @ 60, 70, 72, 75, 85 Hz
800 x 600 @ 56, 60, 72, 75, 85 Hz
640 x 480 @ 60, 75, 85 Hz
720 x 400 @ 70 Hz

The warning in the manual was unclear, but I would heed it. The MAX refesh rate for 1280 x 1024 according to that chart is 72 Hertz and NOT 75
