Seeking advice on 'budget' dual core build...

Postby dave3cu » Thu Apr 26, 2007 10:00 am

I'm putting together a parts list to build a new computer, on a budget1, and would appreciate some help.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I would try and push your budget to $140 then you can get this 7900GS

If it were me I would grab a Pentium D 805 and a ASUS P5ND2-SLi Delux, and then grab some nice overclocking RAM (Corsair XMS DDR2-6400C4 seem to be the best on a budget) then crank 4Ghz out of that Smithfield. If you manage to get at least 3.9Ghz out of it you are matching the preformance of a Pentium EE.

Cheers
