The actual Home Hub was pretty crap. Can I use it as a repeater in conjunction with my BT Voyager 2091 router?

HUB on router... just don't unless you really need the extra ports. The builtin one in the router (if it has multiple LAN connectors) is a switch.

Switch is faster than a Hub, and the performance gain for a switch over a hub increases with the number of devices connected.
