Those are "copies" of web pages that you hve visited. The computer stroes them on your HD to speed up the loading of the page the next tinme you visit it. The price you pay is taking up valuable HD space for speed of loading. And only "static" parts of the page will load speedily.... the active content will update when you revist anyway.
What browser are you using? IF IE7....... go to "Tools" and select "Delete Browsing History". From there select "delete Temporary Internet Files".
Shouldn't hurt anything. Next time you visit a site... it'll show up there again.
