CMOS battery.

Okay heres one you havent heard before. A few months ago (before my pentium D upgrade) I flashed my BIOS so that it would accept the chip. Everything seemed to be working fine until about a month ago, when my CMOS battery seemingly failed. I replaced the battery with a new one, and reset the rig. Then on friday the damn thing died again. New battery, and a resetup. No big deal, because my clocks are staying the same, but I'm wondering, does overclocking eat more out of the CMOS battery. I would doubt that it does, but I've been wrong before.

No, OCing does not drain the CMOS battery faster.

Perhaps you got a bad replacement?
Or, maby the batteies are making bad contact in the battery holder?

Are you sure you've got exactly the right battery? My brother-in-law got one that was the right voltage but the wrong amp output...

Some of my motherboards have CR2025 and some have CR2032 batteries..both 3V and both the same size..maybe you have put the wriong one in??

My ASUS P5N32SLi takes the CR2032..so I'd guess that'd be the one to try

Idk, all i know is that its a ASUS P5ND2-SLi with a Duracell 2032 battery. So if this one kicks the bucket, then 2025 is on its way in.

CT,

I did some research:
The CR2032 is 220mAh and the CR2025 is 150mAh.  So the 2032 is the battery with the longer life.  So don't waste your money on 2025 because it will drain quicker.

If a brand new bubble-wrapped CR2032 drains quickly then you've got a short/leak somewhere??

If I do end up having something wrong with the board, I'm really not that worried, as the rig is gone at the end of April anyway, so I'm really not that concerned, was just wondering, as I can still RMA the board (which I will do before I pass this rig on to my sister).

Ahh yes the original 680i board. This is the board that broke the 3DMark world record. As for problems, there are a few. Since it is a mock up board more or less, the layout isn't the best, but you can make it work. Also the first thing to do is GET THE BIOS UPDATED. There are quite a few glitches with the standard BIOS, but once you get an updated one, everything becomes pretty stable. Oh yea, that active northbridge cooler is one loud mother.

So is better/worse or not much different from the ASUS P5N32E-SLi

Stick with your current board. That eVGA board is the same board, but with a different layout.
