DirectX Problems

I loaded up a new game the other day and after the installation I get a error message.  It say's that it detects the wrong version of DirectX and i'll have to update in order to play.  So my question is, are there more versions out there of DirectX 9 and I just so happen to have an outdated one?  I know for sure that I have 9 because this is what FS9 requires and i've been playing that for quite some time.  Also if this is the case can someone point me in the right direction to get updated.

what game are you playing becuase if its source engine and you have a ATI1950 their is no known cure for the DX problem.

but their is directX 9.c which is the latest. just head over to microsofts website and look for directX 9.C

It's GTR2. So can i download this from Microsoft's website then.
