New Gpu

Postby takis63 » Sun Jan 21, 2007 8:59 am

Hi all,

i am looking to get a new graphics card and upgrade from a 7600 GS that i am currently using.

A local store has a ATI X1800XT 512mb for sale and i am thinking about it.

Do you think it will be a major improvement over the 7600GS ?

Thanks

Although the 7600GS is a midrange card, and a X1800XT would be a big improvement, I wouldn't go for the X1800XT. Personally, I would wait till the ATI Radeon X2000GT. It's the 'UFO' R600 with GDDR3, and as I heard, is the midrange SKU.

It's going to kill the G80. ;)

You can find specs using google.

Pssh Fanboy  ::) Its open GL support will still suck.

How much will you be spending for the X1800. The reson I ask is because most likely you can get a better nVidia card for the same cost.

Thanks for your replies

Cost for the 1800XT is 400 Euros, for a 8800 GTX from 600 Euros and upwards and for a 8800GTS approx.500 Euros

Go nVIDIA!!!

sorry, regardless of performance (no matter how kick-@$$ or cr@p) i'm a guy who feels loyal to certain companies:

e.g.
nVIDIA
Corsair
Intel
Saitek
etc.

but still, im just waiting for a better DX10 card from nVIDIA - maybe something like a GeForce 8950 GX2 or something like that...

P.S.  u ever notice that nVIDIA's logo is like : nVIDIA
but on their site, they always put: NVIDIA
       weird aint it...

That's pretty strange as you have Kingston RAM ::)
