If you waste your money like that, I will laugh at you until I suffacate. If you are thinking at all about a high end gaming rig, the only way to go is self build.

For a non high end gaming system who wants a good midrange card, can you think of anything better?

Didn't think so. You must be able to think in all areas of the spectrum, not just what is the cutting edge, but also that flat blade behind it.

X1650 is better than the 7600GT, and X850. It's also an ATI (EWW NVIDIA).I don't get it?

building yourself is the best for performance.  I look at Alienware and feel sorry for all those people who ordered the stuff.

i could build the best gaming rig in the world if i had to: though my issue (and just about everyone else's) is money.  cash. moolah.

anyway, i stick with Intel, nVidia, Corsair, Western Digital, etc.  before it was a performance thing, but now its that and a loyalty thing.  i dont know why im like that.  is anyone else like that, or am i just weird???

And why is everyone so "OMFG" about vista calling home?

If you ever get a chance to study history Cameron, you'll see what happens when too much information falls into the wrong hands.

What Vista does is set a precedent that says it's ok for big brother to be in our homes watching what we do 24-7. The gathered information can and will be sold or even usurped by authorities for whatever reasons.

So can someone please tell me what is so special about Vista Aero or whatever it is that causes people to turn a blind eye to the sinister side of the new Windows? Is it like a permanent orgasm or what? I mean, isn't vista aero nothing but a fancy looking desktop. For crying out loud, it doesn't feed the poor, stop disease, do your work or get you laid. It's just childish eye candy that's going to take at least three years to figure out how it works and god knows how many years to debug.

If some alien beings were watching us contemplating contacting us to perhaps help us in our stupidity, I think they would now be looking elsewhere in the universe for signs of intelligent life.

When people gather your information, they say it is for your own good, that they will ultimately do nice things for you with that information.
I say that is an evil lie.
The information gathered will ultimately be used against you, either to control you, or take your money from you. Do you think that Microsoft has your personal interest at heart? Microsoft doesn't have a heart. It is a huge business whose managers are performance driven and money is all that matters in the end, yet we allow this intrusion into our homes with welcome mats and enthusiasm........

The effects may not be fully felt in my lifetime Cameron, but I suspect when you get to be my age, you'll think back to a youth where you weren't even being monitored, and think to yourself, "We were once free men".

I sincerely hope my suspicions about what Vista is capable of are completely wrong and misguided, what worries me most is that no one seems  to be questioning it. Windows "calling home" sounds so harmless. Why don't people call a spade a spade and just say that Vista is the ultimate spyware, built right into the OS ?

What the hell is wrong with everyone?.........

You sound like you need to switch to Linux or FreeBSD.

Yes I am well aware of the many downfalls of MS monitoring everything, BUT YOU CAN TURN IT OFF! And I have. You are able to almost completely turn off all of their call home features, so that you aren't monitored.

As for the OS itself, its great for the simple home user. Its got better parental controls, even at the Home Basic level, you used to have to buy professional to get  these. 90% of the drivers are built in, and there is no need to go to the manufactures website to get new graphics drivers, as they aoutmatically update via windows update. The networking interface is better, the OS install is more streamlined, you can do more with Home Premium than you could with MCE. So yes, are we concerned about our info being spread around the world via MS, well possably, but do I think that for the average user who wants a stable and easy to use OS is it better, hell yes.
