Please help, Microphone broken?

Hi I have a Sony VAIO FJ and when I try record though my onboard Microphone all it plays back is a static rumble like a buzz a bee makes? any help?

Oh and it is still under warranty

Not trying to sound like a ass but if it is still under warranty get it repaired.

But you see I use it a lot for school work etc and it is a busy term for me so with out it...I will not be able to progress...hopefully it will still be under warranty after the end of the academic year.

Is there anything else that could be the problem? driver etc?

Could be driver related. I never played with a Vaio so maybe someone with more knowledge than I will help.

Feck the onboard ones. They are cheap, and they break as fast as you can put it in your laptop bag. Go out and get a Logitech USB headset, and all of your problems are solved.
