Postby adkleaddog » Sat Jan 20, 2007 3:26 pm

ok....my kid has a Namco Flightstick 2, (joystick and separate throttle) that came with his PS2 Acecombat5 game.....it's USB.  He doesn't use it, so.....

My q is, can this setup work with FSX?

Any USB or Gameport joystick will work with FSX and FS9.

I thought so too....

I gave it a try....Windows won't let it set up..I try to add it several ways, but I get a consult Device Manager message... :-?

The set up is a throttle with many functions which plugs int to joystick with several as well...It's from my kids PS AceCombat 5 game...I'm currently using a Logitech joystick, but I wanted to see if this setup would work...more bells and whistles....

THe throttle has LEDs that light up, but still.... nothing...

Any clues?

Your help is appreciated!

Something you could try is go to device manager locate the stick and try updating drivers through there. Windows should search and locate any drivers that will work with it.
Probably a long shot but might be worth a try.

Wait is a PlayStation Joystick? I doubt you are going to get it to work properly.

I figured the same.... :(

You'd have to see it to appreciate it...it looks "overdeveloped" for a PS game.... it has a ton of buttons, two pov switches, the separate throttle has many functions as well. It looks like it's been built pretty well too, that's why I was looking for help trying to get it to work.

Maybe I'll take a photo and attach.. ;)

Regards

Now that I looked around on line..it looks like the X52 set up.....almost!

Does that unit need a driver of some sort, I'm wondering?

It looks like almost the same switch set up, but nothings back-lit.....

hmmmmmmm :-?

I found it at:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod ... u=A0522347

and drivers at:

http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/down/drivers.htm

Now what :o

You can install the Saitek driver, but it isn't going to do any good. The saitek driver is designed only for the the Saitek, and wouln't recognise the Namco stick.

I think this is what you are talking about http://gear.ign.com/articles/562/562988p1.html, there is a japanese site at the bottom of it with a driver.... I don't know if this is what you have or not, worth a try though!

Look under downloads on the site in the post above this one, You'll see versions up to 0.42 download binary and install it etc.... Should work. I don't have the stick or I would try it myself

Theres a text file in there when you unzip/unpack it, right click and install, it should detect the stick and you should be good to go. Need any more help just post here.

Gunny

EDIT: the file is hfsd setup information I believe right click, install and then try the profile manager thing that comes with the file its an exe... hope this helps!

Still no luck....

I click the text file, then the profile loader... nothing happens except a quick "glitch" like something might have loaded....but it's not installing.

Should I use the USB port in the back of the machine or is the front ones ok? Just a thought...

Ideas?
