Time for a new computer

Well, I think its time...

After having old hand-me-down computers from aunties and uncles all my life I think its time I go out, and buy me a brand spanking new one...

Problem....  ::)

Computer jargon makes me want to cry, so I need you guys help.

What im looking for is a good computer for around

EGNX would you tell us what where/are your system?, I mean I still keep my Old machine as if it where my Pet to me in my right side table waiting to find a monitor for it , That junk still does thing not too far from modern PCs (I need a new monitor shut, 12 monitors!! and none of them has a replacemet parts,basicaly Flybacks)

That should run you $1200ish, or about 625 GBP, Now its not the uber top of the line gaming rig, but it will get the job done quite well.

www.overclockers.co.uk is one place to start. http://www.scan.co.uk is also good too aparently.

There are others, but as I don't live in the UK so I've never bothered to find out which retailors are good.

Cameron, I'd love to have that computer! Just like Jim said, I need someone to build, deliver and support it, so it narrows down the selection and bumps up the price a bit... Ohh well, I need all the support I can get.

So is a 'GeForce 7900 GS 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI' graphics thingy any good? (For what im paying? Will it do the job?)

A 7900 GS matched with a decent processor will run FS2004 really well...but its not really suitable for FSX.

What are the rules, laws, duties, etc.. for buying components from a USA company and having them shipped to the  UK ?

Seems that with UK pricing/taxes... even flying over and bringing tham back yourself isn't that bad a deal (kidding)(sorta) .

That'll be just fine, hardly any computers can run FSX effectively yet...  ::)

However buying the components and building it yourself is a huge saving.  A compromise is to go for a 'barebones' system where the supplier builds the Case, Motherboard, Processor, Fan and Memory and you add the rest!

I'd love to but, I just don't have the know how!  :-[

Have you tried a local computer shop, not always as cheap as Dabs or Overclockers but would be able to build and support the rig for you. Just curious as to why you don't want to build your own?
I like you wanted a good computer to run FS2004 the Alienware rig was what I wanted but well out of my price range at the time I think it was
