Hmmm.... SUPERCLOCKED!!!!!!!!!

Postby AnGeL_MaKeR » Sun Jan 14, 2007 2:32 pm

Whilst browsing at Tigerdirect.com, I happened to notice that the new 8800GTX vid cards that I've been drooling over have recently had two new editions added to the eVGA series of 8800 GTX cards...

http://www.evga.com/articles/338.asp

THEY JUST SUPERCLOCKED IT!!

:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

I think I'll be placing an order tomorrow.....

I've heard that ATI makes some serious cards, but have not used any since the days of P1 processors.  How reliable are they?

yah...ati should first show some "truble free what so ever" drivers.

thay will never compete with nvidia....as the 1950xtx crossfire came out, and it was top of the line, and nvidia came and........booohhhhhhhhh the 8800gtx blows it away by far, so I belive (and I can be wrong too) that after ati lounches the new top high end card, gets its rating, ang "bingo" nvidia is here with some "hot steak"

yah..like amd and intel

So whatcha think about the superclocked version of the 8800gtx?  Also, how well does fsx run on your machine with the 8800?

I'm going to sleep now, i will give you more in detail next day whan i come home from work,
but in one word, FSX is ready for pc's  in 2 years from now, but the 8800gtx will give you FPS you never belive posible with any other cards, from 25FPS, in new york, to 60 FPS in generel, without evrithing max up its still much more from FS9,

in FS9 I have every single slider max and I have a stable 60FPS, new york  and even more, at the sky... I will post tomaro some screen shots,

one point is that the CPU, plays a big role in FPS.

I'm glad I can share with you.

The 8800GTX was never designed to compete with the X1950XTX. It is designed to compete with the R600, and so far, the R600 is going to COMPLETELY own it as it has TWICE the memory bandwidth (1gb 512bit GDDR4).

ATI usually comes in late but is nearly always better than Nvidia.

yah...ati should first show some "truble free what so ever" drivers.

They already do, if someone has problems they ARE doing something wrong.

My dilema is that I have a motherboard with an Nvidia-based chipset embedded into it.  I don't think ATI will work with my mobo.... ::)

An ATI card will work just fine in your Nvidia chip setted motherboard so you dont need to worry about that.
AMD64 3500+ @ 2200MHz 400FSB
MSI K8N Neo 2 mobo nForce3 chipset
1gig Corsair XMS PC3200 timings @ 10.2.2.2
XFX 6800 Ultra @ 450/1200
80gig HDD

Im not bias one way or the other. But I wont be buying anything until DX10 has really been released and there are enough tests out there to show what works and what doesnt.

The 8800 cards may run worse in DX10 for all we know. Whats funny is how they released them before any real and unbiased DX10 testing could be done. The card rips through everything.. fine, does that mean it will do the same in DX10? I dont want to be the proud owner of a superclocked 600 dollar brick when the good DX10 cards are ready for the market.

I see your point miltestpilot. I agree with you 100%! ;)

This is why I posted the question to begin with. I appreciate hearing everyone's feedback on this subject as after spending $65 at my nearest Walmart on FSX Deluxe, I would somehow like to play the sim w/o a bunch of lagginess!!  ::)
