CH Yoke / Pedals calibration

With MSFS-X I find the yoke to have a tendency to not center.  I am using the sim's built in calibration.

CH offers an interface for calibrating its products.  Do most use that?  Is there some source of good information on using it beyond what CH provides?

I've always just let XP and the sim detect the yoke.

Thanks, Brett.  So do I gather you have not tired to CH calibration manager?  Being an engineer I can hardly let a known tool go untested!   :)

No, I haven't. I don't like loading that stuff unless I have to. I don't even think I still have the disc (though I'm sure I could d-load it).

The one thing that would intrigue me would be special assignments (I think that's all covered within the sim anyway).. or special profiles for individual planes (not sure how you'd access that).

And wouldn't that calibration tool just end up being a fancy interface to the calibration data used by Windows  ?

I use the Control Manager for calibrating all my CH gear, i find that Windows just can't hack it.

Hmmmm, I suppose I was expecting a more definite set of responses, one way or the other.

I ask the question since the MSFS-X default settings seem very different to me from a real airplane.  I have taught in C-150s and Piper equipment and the simulator seems very much more sensitive than the airplanes I have flown, and MSFS-X seems to be prone to a kind of drift.  I suppose it could just require my getting used to MSFS-X, which I will do with time.

I have also used "B" and "D" level simulators for a Beech 1900D and found those to be very sensitive as compared to the airplane.  I concluded that if I could do something in these sims I could do it much more easily in the airplane.  That, in fact, was my experience.

I will try the CH manager and post any observations or experiences that I think may be of interest.

Sorry didn't know what specifics you were looking for besides calibration.
The Control manager software will allow you to adjust many various settings, sensitivity and dead zone probably what your looking for.
I never had a issue with my yoke or Fighterstick centering so all I can say is to give control manager a try.

That link I posted is a excellent place to start, check out their forums for answers to your questions and you will get the help you need. The people that build CH Products are there on the forums everyday and they can get you headed in the right direction.

Be careful messing with null-zones and sensitivities (using Windows calibration OR CH), as that effects all planes.

I go throught and "flight" tune each aircraft in its own config file for proper control sensitivities. The Baron is ridiculously sensitive.. especially to pitch. If you tune the yoke to make the Baron respond properly, you'll throw everything else off.

CH, Windows or MSFS (which is really just Windows) calibration should only be to make sure everything is centered (maybe tweak null zones as the hardware ages)..
