oddly enough... i did buy from "ibuypower". not sure why the DVD says "american future tech."

that's funny about raid max cases... the sole reason why i went with ibuypower was because they offered this case. i thought this case looked so good i had to have it! i hear you about fixing the case... i just feel like i shouldn't have to after spending this much money. it's no small investment for me and i feel it should be plug and play.

you did help calm me down a bit! thanks so much for your help. i look forward to getting this all put together now. unfortunately i have plans tonight and then i'll be going to the "in laws" and won't be back home until late x-mas night. i'm going to be patient and get some help setting it up from a friend who knows a lot more about PCs.

this is going to be a HUGE improvement from my stock dell inspiron 2650 laptop i'm currently using!

He did buy from IBUYPOWER its just that company went through a 3rd party vendor that creates these recovery disks using a partition on the hard drives. I have experienced this with my computer I bought from Frys Electronics a few years ago. Although, my recovery disk came in a package of 3 cds, it was manufactured by a company called ECS. The disks do display the same legal, technical information on the face of the disks. I hate OEMS hehe.

not sure why i thought my dissapointment would end...

i tried turning on the pc and it didn't start up... instead a black screen with system info came up and i kept hearing a clicking sound (i assume it was trying to read the hard drives?). then it skipped over the hard drive and ask to boot from the cd. i put the windows cd that came with it in, and clicked enter. it tried starting but then a blue screen came up saying there was a error preventing windows from starting. i tried redoing this process a few times, most of the time with the same results. only once did the windows XP start up page show (the black screen with the XP symbol), but it was up for just a flash and then the blue screen for a flash and then the system restarted completely.

i'm MORE than PO'D right now... and i'm sure good old IBUYCRAP will be closed at least through x-mas. i can't wait to hear what they have to say. i'm definitely NOT a happy camper.

i'd love to share my experiences with a more mainstream PC forum where IBUYPOWER might actually see this or possibly prevent others from buying from them. any suggestions of where i can do this?

Like I said dude, rip it apart and start over. If you hear clicking your hard drives are most likely dieing, and because you couldn't get into windows they setup your RAID wrong.

For that black screen with your system info, thats called a POST and its GOOD! If you can get your motherboard to POST that means your CPU, RAM, Motherboard, and GPU all work. The POST is your friend, it also lets you gain access to your BIOS.

The quality standird is known through and through though. Many of these smaller OEMs esp around the holidays tend to send out half working machines because their demand triples and they don't have the staff to manage.

Sorry that you got screwed like that, but if you would like I would be willing to take you step by step on how to reassemble and restore your PC so that you are able to start playing FS.

well i guess thats some good news. i was a little worried that maybe they sent me something broke or that it possibly was hurt during shipping.

i really appreciate the offer. that's extremely kind of you. theres someone in my friends network that builds PC and kitbashes gaming consoles (xbox) that i'm going to ask first for some help. the only reason why i didn't use him in the first place was because i couldn't piece together this PC for the same price as i bought it from ibuypoop. and for some strange reason, i got some assurance from the fact that it came with a lifetime tech warranty and a one year parts warranty. yeah... i know... i learned my lesson.

when i looked up this board on google, i couldn't believe all the problems with the bios. to say i was dissapointed was an understatement, but i was happy it looked like EVGA released an update for them.

i tried the update and still nothing worked. i had to wait until today to call them. it was probably a good thing i calmed down before calling. i talked with tech support who surprisingly enough wasn't bad. we found out one of the hard drives are bad and they're going to send me out a new one. i still plan on speaking to the manager today because i'm not happy overall and am going to request the upgraded memory.

we'll see how that goes. thankfully i have a PC running on one hard drive.
