About the SATA ports.

On the Asus Striker board the SATA ports are on the edge of the board facing sideways towards the hard drives instead of out of the board, so you shouldn't have problems with the cards getting in the way of the SATA plugs.

As long as you get a full-tower instead of a mid-tower you should be fine.

Most computer cases are standardized in size (mini tower, mid-tower, and full-tower).

If you want to know how everything fits together look at case reviews. Many cases have layouts where the hard drives are not adjecent to the motherboard. Like this one.

But even with a full-tower with a traditional layout you should be fine. Although there is usually less room for 6 hard drives.

Keep your X1950XTX's, they're GREAT cards, and they should run fsX really well. If they don't, your system is unoptimized, your standards are way to high or even something may be wrong with your cards. Get 3dmark and then compare it to systems with the same setup as you.

Renember, fsX is designed to last 5 years. So, will it work on current technology maxed out? NO!

If I were you, I would buy a DFI or ASUS RD600 mobo, then overclock the hella outa your Processor.

The year after I'd buy twin R600's then Crossfire them. Now THAT will run fsX well. Really well.

At the moment, NO, the G80 (8800 cards), cannot max out fsX, not even close. They will run it well.

However not well enough, as well as DX10 and Nvidia DX10 drivers aren't out yet, as such it cannot max out fsX. With DX10 drivers and Vista, it will run better, though, I doubt maxing it out. When Vista is publically availible, the R600 will be out, and then you can compare the R600 with the G80.

Doing that you'll get a much better deal.

When changing a motherboard you should definately reformat, and make a fresh install of Windows.

Also, install latest drivers, and fixes. Windows XP is 5 years old. It will take some tweaking and optimizing to get the system up to highest speed. Also, I would benchmark the system.

Dizza is right though, current hardware cannot max out FSX. However, with proper tweaks, you can make it look good, and have a lock at 25 fps.

Reviews of the Asus Striker board are coming in, and it sucks. The eVGA board overclocks much better, and runs games faster at stock speeds too. Maybe a new BIOS release will improve the Striker. However, as of now the eVGA board can reach FBS speeds of more than 100 mhz higher than the Asus Striker.

For those who are interested:

http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.h ... VzaWFzdA==

I personally like HardOCP because they say things that other review sites are afraid to say.

Best board for C2D? Just because it is made by Asus and costs $400 doesn't make it the best board.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!

I cant belive it! I want to order the striker, but no one I mean no one have this board in stock!

the only problem with the evga board is the layout, the striker have a much beeter layout, and bios! the bios on the evga is so high teck and complicated compard to the striker wich is "Simple", and the AI booster wich is better...

here you can find so many problems the evga board comes with, for example:...."error where it resets the bios to some defaults whenever the computer goes into standby mode!-----

?????????????

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Custratin ... 6813188009

on the striker you dont have all that small headaick problems...

can you explain the problems the striker comes with?

will I have one FPS more with the evga or less with the striker??
