Multiple monitors???

Postby fox956 » Thu Dec 07, 2006 10:05 pm

Is it possible to have a projector displaying just scenery and have several monitors displaying just instruments? If this possible in FSX and MS2004? If this is possible, what would be the best way to achieve this with regards to extra video cards or another computer netted together? Could Track IR4 be used to control just the scenery? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wrong forum. Go talk to the homebuilt guys. JBMore and others can answer all of your questions. But useing Matrox's 4 in 1 box along with a higher end video card + TrackIR and FSUIPC should work out for ya.

I used to fly with 4 monitors. 1 had the cockpit, another had the radios and nav gear, the 3rd had fsnavigator, and the 4th was dependent on which aircraft I was flying. I was useing 2 6600GTs for the 4 monitors at the time and everything worked great.

With the latest upgrades I am only useing 2 monitors. I an now useing 2 Samsung 22in widescreens and have plenty of room for everything.

As far as scenery on a seperate screen I am not sure you can do that.

I don't knwo anything about the hardware-side of this, but I do know you can make a window with just scenery in it in FS. Just go to cockpit view (2D) right click on the panel (sometimes there are more panels) and select "close". Or you can go to "view" in the options bar and select what panels you want on or off. Turning them all of will leave you just the scenery. ;) (This works in FS8, I don't know about FS9 and FSX, but I expect they work in a similar way)

in the 2D cockpit view, by pressing 'W' cycles through some more views. I believe they are the proper 2D cockpit, just scenery, and only a couple of instruments floating at the bottom of the screen. I have no idea hwo TrackIR works with 2D cockpit though.
