Need new graphics card fps to slow p4 3ghz cpu

Postby flyingbartdude. » Tue Dec 05, 2006 4:56 pm

Hi Guys
I have had fs9 now right from the word go just recently I have formatted my drive and installed all my vfr textures ,aircraft ect back onto the drive. I currently use a P4 3ghz processor with 2gb of ddr ram (x2 1024) RADEON 9600XT Graphics card 70gb Raptor hard drive, gigabyte titanium series GA 81848P-G motherboard. My question is this after re-installing everything I am still finding frame rates a problem everything is jerky from 20fps to unlimited my settings are all set to normal .Can anyone give me some advice as two what graphics card I can upgrade to or is it worth overclocking(this i havent a clue though). My motherboard only accepts AGP X8 so I cannot go down the PCI-Express route unless I change my motherboard . Can anyone give me some sound advice as to what to do I have about 150 pounds to spend on a graphics card ect.
cheers FLYINGBARTDUDE.

Hey there  flyingbartdude! welcome to the forums!
its unfortunate that you are having problems.
i dont know how much this may help you but i recently recovered my computer and updated everything to the latest drivers, etc. I have FSX and installed it.
these are my specs: 2.8 GHz Pentium 4, 2.5 GB PC3200, GeForce 7600GS 512Mb, Antec 500watt PSU.
a couple weeks ago i was running a GeForce Ti4200 until it died on me. So i went and got the 7600gs AGPx8, it was cheap and good for the price based on how long i'll need it longer to keep my aging system until im ready to upgrade. it was a significant boost since ive been living in the stoneage of GPUs for a bit too long, so i dont know if you'll notice it. i get about 12-17pfs on mid settings in FSX. but my system is once again buggy, so i must recover it in the near future since it likes to sporatically freeze for a few seconds. so, hopefully this gives you an idea. did you say you run at 20fps with stutters?
best,

First off you should have your frames locked to 30 no matter what. For everything else in the sim to work in sync is a good idea to do this. Should that not work the way you want, for about 150 quid you should be able to pick up a 7800GS. That card will preform in the way you want.

No the 7800 gs 24 pixel pipelines is the top card for AGP. It is realy a PCI-E card ( 7900 ) adapted for AGP. The important bit is the 24 pixel pipelines make sure the card has them. These sell for aprox

YOU LIE!!! The 7800GS isn't a 7900 adapeted for AGP, its a G70, not a G71. Also it has only 16 pipelines not the 24 of the 7800GT. Also they shouldn't be more over there than here in the states.

The GAinward Bliss 7800GS+ IS IN FACT a G71 core (7900GTX) with a special PCIe-AGP converter on the card. It is the ONLY G71- 24 pipe card in AGP format available and ONLY available in Europe for a premium price.
