Stupid question...

Postby born_2_fly » Sun Dec 03, 2006 12:02 pm

Right I know this is such a stupid question, and the answer is probably really obvious, but still!

What does OEM mean when it's at the end of a Hard drive name? I mean, I know what OEM means, but what does it mean in this conxtext....?

It's just I'm looking for a bigger harddrive for my Dell (Shhh Cam!) Would anyold hard drive be compatable, because the ones on the Dell site are a complete rip-off, which makes me think that they must be the only ones compatable, otherwise they could'nt charge so much..

Anyways, enough from me...

Cheers,
Alex  ;D

Open up ya Dell and you'll find a lovely Seagate drive in there ....... so there's no problem changing it.

OEM: Original Equipment Manufacturer. Buyin oem just means you don't get the driver disks, a sealed box, and all the little accesories. Dell is not like that with compatibility. Your normal things will work
