I need some "Cleaning " advises..Please

Postby alrot » Fri Nov 24, 2006 4:31 pm

I been noticing that my PC has become slower ,I clean out all my internet temp files,I had defrag my hdd (FSX is instaled in my 80gb 2ns slave drive as FS9 and  3d max)but I'm concerning about ,when I open FSX Its become very slower and even FS9.I had check in sys /proces there isn't no strange thing loaded, the anivirus, IExpplore, there isn't not running a weird/strange prosess than my regulars that I get used to  .

also I don't know where this is ,but that some old things from you tube when I reopen the same video ,Its already loaded, somewhere, somehow its in a temp file ,BUT WHERE?as I said is not in internet temp files

This always happend after two month without formating my hdd,and reinstaling everything, after doing this ,my pc start working very fine ,but being erasing and instaling 40gb in things is very tidious, I rather not to do it this time

QUESTION: what could be the reason ,that  every WinXP instalation seems like to expired in my system ,

At the first sight you won notice , but when I open FSX or FS9 is not the same and everyday by usinfg programs ,surfing in internet,my system its slower,FSX FS9  both files are in a secondary slave HDD .

I will apressiate your advises ,your help, I had raise my virtual memory size to try ,Its the same..

I swear I don't want to format my drive again

Please

If you haven't already, turn off "System Restore".

For deleting temporary internet files try Internet Privacy Keeper. Nice little utility.

I'm not sure about this but installing FS9 and FSX on a hard drive that doesn't contain your OS sounds like it would slow things down.

You could also clean your registry. Either manually or using a registry cleaner. However good cleaners like Registry Mechanic cost a fortune.

Also, you could disable Windows XP visual effects, I find them a pointless use of system resources.

Here are some tips on Tweaking Windows XP to run faster.

Yep mees a good cleaning usually helps em out (Did for my 900Mhz celeron) I had a 20 gig hard drive and formatted that thing probably 20 times or more in the two years I had it... I dunno if its just how the old technology is or what..... I'm guessing so!

You three Gotta be kidding me  ;D I meant "data dirt" real dirty has nothing to do with it ,
BTW, Chessegratter cleaning software and disable the restore system seems works fine as "recenly formatted"  ;D

Grab O&O defrag, and do a name defrag. Also registry mechanic is a great tool. Useing O&O really can make a huge difference in your speed.

I second the O&O and Registry Mechanic, probably the best pieces of software I have ever bought for performance maintenance.
And Alrot by chance do you use Norton products? lol.

I looked at that tweak guide from the link above and to be honest I think you better use caution with all those registry tweaks he has listed, that is one place a erro like one wrong digit can mess up your whole system.
My advice to you is to read what Nick has posted here:

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 53;start=0

It is more up to date ;)

I third (;D)the O&O Defrag and Registry Mechanic! They ARE the best pieces of software for performance maintneance. I use them to and I'm very impressed about what they did to my system.

And Norton and McAfee are a big NO NO ... they'll eat your system. Get NOD32. Does the same (if not better) and is not so hungry ;)
