Restart after shutdown

Postby llamedos » Wed Nov 29, 2006 7:20 am

I don't know if this is the correct place for this (yet), but i'll ask anyway ;)

When i shut down my PC. After it shuts down and the fans stop and the lights go out etc. 10 seconds later it restarts again ??? ???

I've had a search on the net but not found anything usefull, have any of you guys ever come accross this before? any help would be appreaciated.

BTW. It is a new pc, built it my self (could be half the problem ;D ;D ) i can give you the specs if you need them.

Thanks

sir Martin

hmm This sounds like a familiar problem but I cant remember from where.... oh yea...! The power supply... My HP would boot up when I plugged it in sometimes.... I am guessing the PSU was shot and is what fried that comp.... My guess is something isn't plugged in right or the PSU is messed up.... Though I am guessing. Anyone else have an idea?

Also, Try shuting down the pc by pressing the button on the front once, see what happens, and then hold it down until the pc shuts off imediatly and see if it does it.

My specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4G CPU

Asus P5W-DH-Deluxe Motherboard

Geil 2G DDR2 800Mhz Ultra KIT

Asus 256M 7900GS PCIe Video Card

Not much software installed yet

and a few other bits and bobs.

Try unhooking all the wires and trying again... a very nice Power supply!

Go into your control panel and check the Power settings, it may be that it is set up to restart after powerdown unless it is unplugged.

Thanks Gunny

When i put it together the P/S cables ended up in a bit of a birds nest, so once i knew everthing was good i was going to mark the cables and rewire it. I might do it sooner than later, that P/S really has a lot of wires LOL

Thanks again

Yea the wires can be a mess (My hp was so bad it kept the heat in!) This acer has a decently designed case, hard drives in little bays as are the card reader, floppy thing, and CD-roms!  I am getting a hiper PSU soon enough (Detachable stuff if you don't need it) Should limit the wiring hastles..... hope you get it sorted soon!

Check your bios power-on settings, "Wake on...." you might find the answer there.

I had the same problem with an MSI board. Had to RMA it, but that fixed the problem.
