As the owner of such a vessel how would you refer to it?

To me it's a Gin Palace, as it is to everyone else with a boat with sails. However I've never met a Gin Palace owner but I'm sure they have a name far less derogatory.

There are advantages to having the first and second mate crank winches which are mounted lower on the deck however after several years of dealing with sails and the upkeep on solid wood construction I decided it was time to do more boating and less work.

That sounds like you've owned a real/wooden boat in the past. What was it?
