Exotic hardware tips needed

Postby Ivan » Sun Nov 12, 2006 3:47 pm

OK got two questions

1: what is better, a 'chinese blue monday' S3 Virge DX (i think its a 4MB one) or a DELL OEM 4MB Matrox Milennium 1

2: What year SB16 PCI version has the 8 pin connectors for a 'Goldfinch' AWE32 upgrade board (Creative CT1920, ISA card). It came from a Dell pc that had SB Vibra as main chip. Most usefull will be a list of 'CT' codes.

Not really exotic hardware, just hardware from the good old days. ;D

The Matrox Millenium has much better 3D performance. Apparently the Virge was one of the first 3D accelerators, so 3D performance was really buggy.

I don't know about the 2D performance. I had a derivative of the Virge, an S3 Trio, and it was a great 2D card. Although I'm sure Matrox cards of the day were great too.

For question #2 I got no idea. I would ask on the Creative forum.
