I know someone who managed to run a X1900XT on a 350watt PSU. :D It was a Dell PSU so it's kinda underated as usual.  ;) max output of it was 480watt.

Try underclocking your card, core and memory, or even try changing drivers. My old X850XT artifcacted on 5.?? drivers, but 5.12 fixed it. Now I'm running it on 6.9 still with no problems.

Can't wait till Gunnerman comes back! :D I know him through Gunny04 who directed me here. ;)

You should have sent that BFG card packing back to it's place of birth Fozzer.

BFG used to make cards with high quality components for enthusiasts, then they became Extremely popular.

Remember Gunnerman in these forums? He bought a BFG 6800GT I believe and started having issues immediately, when I was researching his problem, it was evident that BFG's quality control was out to lunch as many users were experiencing problems. I warned about this issue during the popularity of the 6000 card series, and also warned people off the O/clocked editions of that card series.

I just shook my head when you bought that BFG card Fozzer, I wished you the best with it of course, but let's call a spade a spade and accept that it's a dud and send it back for a suitable update eh?

I'm sure if you contact the nice guys at BFG and tell them of your complete dissatisfaction with that 6600GT, even though you tried for so long to accept it as is, and tried every workaround possible, that the card has been nothing but a complete waste of time and money and that you are willing to pay a bit extra for something that actually works, (like a shiny new 7900GS).
They will feel so much empathy for you that they will send you a new "special AGP Fozzer Edition 7900GTX" just for causing you all this grief in the first place. You think?

Oh, and I haven't seen Gunnerman ever since then either, so his BFG card may have actually conspired against him, but I'm not one to start rumours, (there is still no solid evidence that BFG graphics cards are killers), so let's just assume he's missing.

Tee-Hee... ;D...!

...so...
..Congo..

So that I don't make a complete Pig's ear selection with my next GPU purchase, What would be a list of your favourite GPU manufacturers, (preferably using nVidia chips), which wont give me problems with arty-farty-facting in future....;)...?

(Obviously, BFG won't be top of your list...(even though they make such nice fancy boxes).... :-[...)...!

Paul...;D...!

P.S. I'm still tempted to hang on to my old AGP slot, and like BFG's fancy boxes, it's such a nice AGP slot... :-*...!

...perhaps a choice from here; Graphics cards > nVidia > AGP...?

Also, here in Australia I can order anything (a gift?) up to $1000au value and get it duty free through the post (most things), have you got a duty free scheme like that? You could order from Newegg in the USA if you did.

Have patience Fozzer, as prices dropped again here this week, get me some links if you can.

Hi Congo...;D...!

Duty free....
...DUTY FREE!.... :o...!

It has to be an Australian thing...;)...!

The word "FREE" doesn't appear in the English language!
We pay through the nose for everything we purchase....:'(...!
We suffer "Value Added Tax"....
...(I never could figure out why the word "Value" was included)...!
LOL...!

At the moment I am keeping my beady eye on the Gainward Bliss Silent 7800GS 512 AGP card, (same spec as a 7900 GT), at around

P.S. ...Nick....go back and shorten your link address, it's making my screen stretch across my living-room wall... :'(... ;D...!

P.P.S. Another after-thought....will DX10 install on our older "DX9c" cards...?

LOL

Sorry. It was one of those quick copy/paste jobs.

There will be no chance DX10 will run on any DX9 card. The DX9 card will run an upgraded version of DX9c in VISTA code named DX9L which as I recall is like DX10 and somewhat coded to the VISTA core and I have heard it can not be migrated to WindowsXP. Unlike DX10 which is hard coded to the VISTA core I am wondering if there may be a chance of some success with DX9L.

I urge you to wait if you can Fozzer, the 8000 series just got released, we should see significant price cuts within weeks if they prove popular.
