Do you know what....

Each time there is a new update to nVidia's drivers, I read the changes to the new drivers first....and surprise!...none of them seem to apply to my particular usage of the card.... ::)...!

I have yet to really notice any practical improvement over my original drivers supplied with my GPU for what I use it for...... :o...!

Does each update make a noticeable improvement over the previous drivers...?

Paul...with a folder crammed full of updates... 8)...!

I installed the new driver on my 2.8 ghz with a 6800 ultra and the only side effect was having to reconfigure the sound card. Took me a hour to figure that out though and I was definitely panicked.

Fozzer's right, I too have yet to see a noticable difference that a new driver has made to my card.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  ;)

gotta love support and new driver releases

I gotta have my tweak fix... if it dont work, I simply revert

no big deal

It is always best to review the readme to see what is new and what known issues are listed

Remember 5 things..

Uninstall the video drivers from Windows.... then

1. If your running AGP, ALWAYS uninstall the AGP driver after the old video drivers have been uninstalled. Also, make sure any supporting software such as FAN or DRIVER controllers/tweak prgrams are uninstalled such as Rivatuner or ATI tool. Reboot between uninstalls.; The tweak/fan control software should give you the option to retain the configuration settings when uninstalling so you dont have to set it all back up when it gets reinstalled.

2. Use Driver Clean Pro in SAFE MODE to remove all the registry entries and old .dll files left over in the system after the drivers were properly uninstalled from Windows from add/remove programs

3. With AGP, reinstall the AGP driver (check for an update too before you install it) and reboot

4. Install the new video drivers, reboot and give the system about 2 minutes at the desktop .. then reboot again, set up the drivers as needed.

5. Reinstall any supporting software such as fan control or driver tweak software

and finally... it is ALWAYS best to boot the sim fully, then close the sim... go to the FS9.cfg file and open it in notepad and CONFIRM the driver line is not duplicated in the list. If so, edit out all the duplicates, reboot the sim and set up the HARDWARE tab correctly.

another option (which is what I do) is just delete the FS9.cfg file, boot the sim and make all the needed settings. Close the the sim and then go the FS9.cfg file and edit back in all the tweaks..

DON'T listen to the blubering Foz, I thought I will take advise & upgrade drivers no & then, and now have no working fs9, is so jerky is unusable.

See my long post of suffering. Even poor old Congo trying to help me got the same shot.

Even by reverting to the original driver still is f....d up.

No big deal he says............t......p

Tee-Hee...!

I just read through dear old Nick's un-install advice....
Good advice...
It's what I always do...
...but it takes FOREVER to carry out...
...and he calls it...
...wait for it...
..."No big deal"

LOL....Sorry Nick!... ;)...!

I have zillions of Icons and shortcuts on my desktop, and it takes a month of Sundays to reset my screen resolution after each new driver install and boot-up, and re-arrange all my zillions of Icons and shortcuts all over again.... :'(..!

Life is much too short for all the faffing about only to find there is no improvement over the previous drivers...;)...!

The only thing is...it passes the time on a miserable, rainy day...;D...!

Cheers all...;)...!

Paul...stuck in my AGP slot, amongst a swarm of desktop Icons and shortcuts..:'(...!

It's good to uninstall Video drivers the way Nick said. I didn't uninstall my ATI drivers correctly now I have two ATI hotkey pollers running.

No big deal, I just stopped it from running altogether. Oh, and my 3d mark wasn't affected between driver installs. :D

Thats not true...
I did not have these problems when I switched to the latest 93.71 driver from nvidia.

I dont know what is wrong with your system but I do not think it is driver related since you have changed them several times... although Congo upgraded his drivers and the problem went away so it is possible something in the driver install is not unregistering correctly.

This driver is the first official release that fixes issues with water rendering in IL2FB as far as I know. I'm a happy camper now, though I still see some minor errata. 8)

If only MSFS had IL2 water!
