Sound Issue..Solutions?

Postby Clipper » Tue Oct 31, 2006 6:22 am

Hi. I was wondering if anyone can offer some advice here..I have Sound Blaster with 5.1 speaker set-up. When running speaker test which sends independant sound to each speaker, I get sound out of front left and rear left speakers at the same time. All other speakers and sub play independantly. As well the rear left has wicked static when running sim or radio. Anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance...Clipper :)

Perhaps re-install the latest drivers if you haven't already Clipper.

I know that sounds a bit generic for an answer but it's what I do when I get sound issues.

Make sure you haven't got onboard sound turned on in the bios if your Soundblaster is an addon card.

If you haven't already done it, disable onboard audio in the BIOS, and download the latest drivers.

One of my speakers has some static when changing the volume because I knocked it off the desk a few times. ;D

and verify Windows is set up for 5.1 surround in the audio properties

also, verify your connections in the card and see if there may be an option you are missing in the sound driver settings.
