1) That power supply is super cheap. It has to go. It even says SLI in the name but it is not SLI certified. That should be a giant red flag.

Get this one instead. For the price you can't beat it.

2) You should really consider Intel Core 2 Duo Instead of AMD AM2.

Finally compare those prices with the onces at www.overclockers.co.uk.

After all, you don't want to go paying more than you have to. :)

2 x 1gb ram modules is fine. Save having to throw away 1 gb later on when you want some different modules in dual channel with 2gb, a most common occurence.

Well.. although I agree if what you are looking for is balls to the walls, go with the intel system as there is nothing that will beat it right now on the market.

..however what I do not agree with is the assesment of the ASrock board. Yes, in the past they were lacking for the support in the BIOS and the voltages however with the new VSTA board, that seems to have changed...

In our overclocking tests, we were able to easily POST up to 350x6 by just setting the CPU CLK to 350, multiplier to 6, vdimm to 2.8v, NB,SB voltage to HIGH and at ASync DDR200.

In conclusion, 939Dual-VSTA extends the life of the highly acclaimed ULi 1695/1567 solution for AMD Socket 939 users. If you are looking for such a board that can do surround display of up to 6 monitor screens, VISTA ready and upgrade options to AM2. The only board to look for is the ASRock 939DUAL-VSTA. No other boards come close to it.

I know that POST and run are 2 different things however if we can hit 330 stable.. I would say for 70 bucks the board is no slouch for overclocking.

The 939DUAL VSTA arrived today along with a new zalman AM2 HSF. I will be building this board with my grandson this weekend and we shall see just how lousy it is for overclocking.

And you need to get yours out of AMD's. You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT have a bias for one company in this industry. If you do you get screwed out of the best preformance. Now it may seem as if currently I only suggest Intel that I have a bias for them. However its because its the most bang for the buck. Also ITS NOT A DEAD TECHNOLOGY!

You can sit and say that AMD is more bang for the buck, and yes this is true of 939 vs Netburst systems but the current stuff is in Intel's corner, but both of those have been killed off by their manufactures.

Personally I feel that you flymo, just go along with a bunch of your hardware buddies on other fourms and repeat what they say there here, and that it dosn't appear that you don't do enough of your own resurch.

Cheers

first of cam im not a hardware forum person, this is the only forum part from my clan one that i regularly post on so im not just repeating what i see on other forums as i dnt read any other hardware forums.
im just an AMD fan tbh, ok intel have 1 good processor but AMD have a better track record. everyone bums them because they have 1 better core than AMD its ridiculus. hardware costs alot of money, so i would say that im palying it safe not being bias! as i know AMD are good quality stay cool and give great performance.
intel on the other hand have a record of budget processors for big corporations that buy them in the hundreds...hmmmmmm go for quality or quantity, i chose quality cos im not some egotisitical tit!

I agree that there are a few here that tend to be a bit bias toward Intel and I do from time to time give them a good razzzz however thats kind of a harsh statement.

I am actually an AMD fan as well and I own stock in the company however I also own an Intel system. Its not about loyalty, its about what I want and need out of a computer system. The Intel system I own is dedicated to being a server and a workhorse for professional software which is optimized for the Intel code. Its a dual xeon tower that runs multiple SCSI and solid state drives.

AMD is geard more toward the graphics end. With the merger of AMD and ATI there will most likely be a great deal of improvement in that area which will force Intel to also take more into consideration that end of the market so that merger works all the way around for the gaming industry.

If I was interested in building a system right now specifically designed for 'drag-racing' on an overclock it would be an Intel however in order to do that right I would not nickle and dime the compoents. With Intel, you must pay top dollar to get the best performance where with AMD you can skimp a bit here and there. That is the major difference between the brands right now.

I would not try and save money if I was building an Intel system simply because that would limit the system and I would just go out and throw more money down later to bring it up to par. Its better to just lay down the booty for the Intel system up front.
