Shopping for new system

I am in the market for a new system. Iam essentially a gamer. the pc is used for email and news other than games.  the odd google. seldom more than two applications running at the same time.

the unit will come from MDG , Canada and will be OEM

I am partial to Intel and Nvidea but i want full access to the bios.

Question.

best Intel motherboard?
is dual core necessary for what i do? If so what should I be looking for/at?
what cpu and what speed.
what power supply unit and how much?
What about L2 cache amount?
amount and speed and make of Ram

Gpu?

HD? speed and cache amount/ transfer rate.


is FSB speed still an issue with the machines of today?

any info on technical specs for a flatscreen monitor would be appreciated


what pitfalse when getting a new system should i be looking out for?

Special cooling requirements?

any thing else you guys can think of would be appreciated

Are you putting it togethor yourself, or having it come all ready to go out of the box? I hate the, all ready to come out of the box computers..... I'd go for building it yourself!

I Saw your first post, OEM gaming rigs.... Over priced! You may save up to 600 or so if you put it togethor yourself! All you need is a good sense of this plugs here and that there. And know how to read a manual. Not too hard really.

That mainboard was the very first Conroe mainboard, it's the mythical "Badaxe" board.

Checks it's features against more modern releases. I think it can be a pain to configure in certain areas.

Thanks for info. what is a badaxe board . bad i guess. what is a more recent board that overcame the badaxe features of the 975xbx board.

what is your thouhgt on the vid card.

ive heard that intel and nvedia are better matches. how about the ram is it the latest?

yes the description is an out of the box system.

yes i can read a manual and can plug here and there but my hands are really not up to the task of fine detailed work anymore. also i like the idea of tech support 24/7 from Mdg. i do enjoy a good tech realtionship with them.

any other thoughts on the system description as i have provided in previous note?

X1900XTX will work fine on Intel.
