PC shutdown & SOBD

1. No Overclock just standard.

2. Used Multiplay same way weekly with others in Simvn.

3. Only thing changed was the panel of Kingair to Glass cockpit, but took it out to check & fault reoccured.

It happened after the the security install with SOBD, managed to to get all back, and a a couple of days later during Multiplay it conged out.

I had the second CDR-W disappearing from Win Explorer and then showing up again when I run INCD.

The fs9/Net heavy load seems likely as it happens after the chat is used.

Unless I hear otherwise from you, I will change all partitions to NTFS within windows as I am running OK & is not really necessary to reformat just for that.

Heres the deal...

You can convert to NTFS from FAT32 which will provide the upgraded security your system but it wont be the same as doing it from a clean install and be advised that after the conversion the hard drive will be fragmented very badly.

You should also get rid of any partitions on the drive before converting to NTFS. The conversion will work but as I recall unless Windows is actually installed on NTSF you may not get the full ntfs.sys support.


As for your issue... being it was not there before installing the security software and the bad crash you had.. and the fact you did a Windows repair (which I only do to recover data and then I alway reformat after) I would recommend clearing the entire drive and starting from scratch.

This isn't probably anything to do with it, but there is a chatbox fix for FS9 right?

Points taken, but lo & behold my eye cought a two "Windows" directories in C:\, one 1.7gb tother 60 odd gbs. Deleted the large one and last night on multiplay with Sam & 4-5 others there was no SOBD whatever I tried!.

I always thought it wont let you install 2 wins in same directory?!

But, the Quick Launch in bottom status bar is giving a lot of trouble. is unusable. It was my right hand tool.

Then when I right click to get Properties etc of something takes a few seconds when before flashed up.

Then my old Panasonic dotmatrix & my Optical Mouse is not accepted by XP, & second CDrom does not show up.

Also my trusted "Cyber Time" prog will not see my place's time, is 3-4 hrs off.

So there is something basic amiss.

But fs9 all else is OK & can print on wifes Epson C48 through network.

So I will stay put till review the situation in the future, if it gets worst.

Seems to me instead of the Windows repair you performed another install..which should have given you a warning about installing Windows in the same partition as another install...

An even better reason to start over... that system cannot be in very good condition at this point however if it is working, so be it.

I would get your entire FS9 folder abd supporting files backed up


and anything else that is critical
