CD and DVD drive are gone

Postby Sir_Crashalot » Fri Oct 20, 2006 6:25 am

Hi guys,

I think I have a little problem here. Windows XP Pro says it cannot load the drivers of my CD and DVD drives because they might be missing or damaged. Don't ask how or when it happened, I noticed it this morning when I tried to burn a CD. I've already tried uninstalling the drives and re-installing them but that didn't work. I tried windows update but that didn't help either. I can download new drivers for them both (I hope) but where to install these? And how could this have happened?

Thanks in advance,

Crash ;)

Problem solved. Appeared to be some kind of virus that slipped through. Had to re-install Windows XP though. But everything is working fine as it should be again.

not twisting anyones arm.. and it does cost

I fly with NOD32 enabled, which I would not suggest anyone do with less an an A64 rig @ DDR400 but the point is not only do you get the protection, it takes so little resources you do not need to shut it down to fly.

Dude, if you want an anti-virus scanner get this virus.

"The Trojan, which uses peer-to-peer technology to send commands to hijacked computers, has been fitted with its own anti-virus scanner
