Hey guys,

my sister just got a brand new ASUS laptop but she has problems with the HP 1410 All in one printer, she installed drivers and after that it took the computer bout 15 min to shut down, did defrag and uninstall, dled the drivers from HP, and still it happens. Anyone knows this problem?

Unplug the printer from the computer. That might cause problems.

HP printers are a pain but are good printers when they are working.
The biggest hassle is all the crap it installs off the cd. that and the printer software loves to play online.

Try the above tip first and see if that works, if not try to install drivers alone without the extra software and see how that affects it.

I cringe when I see a HP printer on a desktop, same reasons as above, that nasty installed software.

Guess I should have told how to get the drivers installed only, if using the install CD it can be tricky.

First insert the install CD, try to cancel it asap while it is doing its thing. Once you stop its autorun you can go into Device Manager, locate your printer and do the update driver thing.

Allow Windows to locate the file itself and it will install only the driver.
This is sufficent to just print, in order to use the scanner you will need to install the software.

Problem with HP software is it won't give you the choice of which features install, and that is the only reason I hate HP.

As far as quality I think they are some of the best printers as far as price and the ink is cheap also, unlike Lexmark to buy refill ink doesn't cost more than you can buy the printer for ;)
