No my friend, I can make changes to the Bios OK, it is just that whenever I use RESTART from windows, it does not restart, hungs, and have to shut down complete & then restart from cold.

Forget the Ethernet bit in Other devices, it has always been there from the start, all works OK there.

The restart snag is solved by magic. Not there any more.

Congo you said earlyer "....get nVidia ones, the sound driver is included, so no need to get the seperate audio driver.....", which one of those?

That statement only applies to those with nForce chipsets, just use the configurator on the driver download page.

AC'97 Audio CODECs "WDM_A392",  had them too to no avail.
and tried  the "WDM_A389"

Hope yours works, let us know.

Like I said... make sure ALL the Nvidia supplied drivers and audio utilities have been completely uninstalled before installing the Realtek drivers. You must also use SOUNDMAN to set up the correct speaker output type you are using and I would highly suggest turning ON the EQ and using the preset "POWERFUL". Soundman does NOT kill and resources and is needed to properly address the system on boot if you use surround sound speakers.

I just built a board for someone using the NV platform and the realtek 8 channel surround and it is awesome!

You must also have the AC3 audio decoder codec installed to hear true 5.1 surround in Dolby DVD movies...

It will totally blow you away with the right 5.1, 7.1 or 10 channel speaker setup.

Yeah I uninstalled the old drivers and used driver cleaner. I disabled soundman because I don't use it. I use 2.1 speakers and I don't need any of the advanced options. Also, the more options you have enabled the more CPU it takes.

Now how about the "driver cleaner" what is it, will it not wipe all drivers?

All I have is one small speaker on the table, and small headset for simming, BUT no sound.

Should there be a "Multimedia controller" somewhere?

And Soundman say "nVidia oo59 audio controller".

Deinstalled, reinstalled I am B......y fetup with the PC, all I do is start and restart the B....y thing, would a Mac be good for fs9, they say is good ongraphics. ?

Yeah, it works. Apart from the clicking I never had any problems on this comp. I think the new drivers might have fixed the clicks, I joined a few Q2 servers, and I don't hear it anymore.

Drive cleaner doesn't wipe all drivers, however it can remove video, audio, and nForce drivers. You run the program after you uninstalled the drivers though.

After you install the new drivers windows should detect onboard audio, and in your device manager "Realtek AC'97 Audio" should appear.

You might have the plug in the wrong audio jack or maybe you have mute on in the sound settings, or don't have the audio device selected in the sound settings?

If it was me, and I couldn't figure it out, I'd format a drive, do a fresh install and load the nf4 driver's. If that didn't work, and I knew for certain that the jack/wiring were correct, the mainboard would be RMA'd.

That's what is needed but been puting it off the latter, all that palaver just for a bit of chatting in the simm.

Can't face the reinstalling of programs afterwards.

There is no way it will work.

I saw another post you made where you said you bought a new motherboard that has a heatsink because the northbridge fan was making a noise. There is no need to buy a mac because sound doesn't work or buy a new mobo because the fan is noisy. These are expensive solutions to small problems.

Like congo said, double-check all the wiring is correct. Install windows, then nForce drivers, and then Realtek drivers. You will either have sound, or no, in which case the mobo is broken, and you can RMA or return it to the store.
