New Case

I just put Christmas lights inside my case. I was the talk of the LAN party.

I figure I'm about to start pieceing together a $2200 rig, I may as well have a good tower to present it in, and whats better than a SilverStone?

Heres the parts list:

Conroe E6700
ASUS nForce 5 SLi (when it comes out)
OCZ DDR2-800 2GB
2x eVGA 7900GT
2x 400GB Western Digital Caviar
2x 150GB Western Digital Raptor X
Samgsung 18x DVD+/-RW DL LightScribe
Hiper Type R
Zalman CNPS-9500LED Cu
2x Zalman VF-900Cu
4x 120mm Blue LED Fans
2x 92mm Blue LED Fans
Blue UV cables all around
Akasa matting (basically absorbes noise inside the case)
4x 12" UV Cathodes
2x 4" UV Cathodes

Total is something like $2400. I'll be buying this in about $350 ~400 incraments over the next few months, with the CPU and motherboard last (I already have the RAM, and one of the video cards). Anyway, just wanted your input on the case.

I had a '78 Z28, looked bad. dents,multiple paint colors and bondo all around, but like the saying "never judge a book by its cover", there wasn't many other cars that could beat it

Okay, I'm vacation so I'm going to make this brief.

1st: They are called cold cathodes for a reason. They generate absolutely no heat whatsoever.

2nd: They use about 2Ws each. So in total its taking up only 10W total from my avalible 580, I think I'll be okay.

3rd: If done correctly, it looks very good (see the link in my sig called "my own little corner") I do alot of LAN partys so PC case modding is a must.

Why a must? Just have a computer that doesn't look much on the outside but will wipe the floor with anyones on the inside.

I must admit my computer has a light. But thats only cause I brought a fan that turned out to be a light as well when I got it home.

In my opinion chavvin' up a pc is possibly the saddest thing anyone could ever do. Even worse than sticking a spoiler and neon lights onto a Vauxhall Nova.

No, a pimped-out Nova would at least be funny... some of these PCs are just sad.

All together with the current rig that I'm running, the 4 that are in there now generate 1*C of ambiant, and add nothing to the CPU. As for the power consumption, its a Conroe system. So what power the conroe isnt useing, the lights will to match the current P4 I have now.

Cameron, I am having some second thoughts about my case.

Either the CPU sensor reads really high or the case is not doing its job.

I can't get my signature to update but I am running an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with two 7950s installed.

The DFI board had a single 7900 GTX in it and run quite a bit cooler in the case.

There is a tremendous amount of heat coming out the top of the case but it seems to need something else.

I am going to reverse the way some of the fans blow and see if that does any good.

If that does not help I am going to move the motherboard and assorted goodies into another case and see if the temps are any better.

My guess is your case will have as much or more stuffed inside it.

For the cost of the case I was expecting better cooling.

And you mentioned taking it to a Lan Party. If you load it up it is extremely heavy.

What kind of case do you have? If you have a lot of stuff I would get a full tower rather than mid tower.

I wouldn't reverse the fans. They blow air in a certain direction for a reason. Have you ever seen a power supply that sucks air into itself rather than blowing it out?

Yes I have, Mine

Anyway. The HDD and lower fans arn't really a problem. They can blow however you want them to. But get the one in the front sucking in, and the rears all blowing out.

Well 120 mm fan is sucking air into the PSU, but it goes through the PSU out of the case, either through a 80mm fan or honeycomb mesh. Unless yours works differently.
