Mainboard temperature.

Ive been using SiSoft Sandra for a few months now, and never had any cause for concern...until today!
My mainboard temperature is showing 55-60 degrees C.. should I be worried? Admittedly its been a bit warm lately (today was 30 C and one of the cooler days lately), the question is, is this temperature my northbridge or is the temp taken from elsewhere?

Its an ambiant temp. Try cleaning up your case innards, should do the trick.

Just checking, but why is your +3.3V rail at +0.99V?

And the negative 12v is -3v, etc.

The mobo and cpu temps look inverted.

I'd say it's fair to assume that sandra isn't sensing your system accurately.

Exactly. I'd suggest trying something like Everest and see if you get the same readings.

Cheers for the help lads, I think you're right about sandra. The more I'm reading it the less it makes sense.  ::)
As for the voltage thing I know nothing about it I'm afraid. (note to self: Learn more  :P )

P.S. when that screenshot was taken the case side was off (as it's always been..and regularly cleaned Cameron  ;) ) and since the weather here has been at 30c plus for about a week I've got a desk fan blowing directly into the case.... don't know if that's relevant..

I've just downloaded Everest and heres the results..


So what's going on here then?  ??? It's pretty much the same as what sandra's telling me (apart from the voltage thing).. I'm confused.
To the touch my Chipset passive heatsink is very hot, the  heatsink on my CPU is relatively cool.
BTW it's an MSI 7037 mobo.

Hmm well I'm more inclined to trust Everest because the voltage rails look fine.

The CPU & HDD readings are fine, but that mobo is cooking itself there

Maybe time for a new HS(&F)?

Depending on the case design, it may be required the case to be closed to allow for optimal air flow. My case, for example (an Antec Sonata) is designed in a way that it would definitely overheat if I were to leave it open.
Additional internal cooling might be needed in your rig; like a bigger heat sink with fan for the Northbridge or a front case fan.

I would agree if the CPU temperature wasn't so low. 32C for the chip is very low indeed and indicates either very good airflow or underclocking. I'm assuming it's the former.

ditto here, i have to have the side on due to the high cfm fan blowing right on the chipset. and to keep airflow from the back fan to the front fan. lol i have fans blowing in nearly every direction, yet my case reader usually reads 25

Hmm very good point, I hadn't thought of that. What about running something like CoreTemp? That will give you an accurate reading of the CPU temperature.

From that we should be able to work out which is which

Sandra and Everest are correct with the temps, you felt it for yourself with your fingers as you already said the Northbridge heatsink was hot and the CPU heatsink was cool.

What mainboard do you have and is the Northbridge heatsink stock or modified, active or passively cooled?

an MSI 7037 mobo.

Assuming it's not modified, it's a passive cooler.
