yay! I should have it by Wednesday. Hopefully I'll get to uni, which is why I got it. Don't tell me the card is rubbish as I ain't replacing it. I may put some better ram in.

I know you PMd me, but I'll answer here too.

Again very very nice lappy. That 6400 will preform a little bit less than your current 9600XT. But you shouldn't notice that much of a difference.

Also grab a 1GB RAM kit for that. 512MB is kinda lacking.

Cheers

Well it came through today and it's a lovely machine. I hope it continues to be so.

I tested it out to see how it fared. To my shock my laptop (that I thought wouldn't run FS9 too well) came out better.
Now I know its new with not too much put on it and the big PC is larger. But look at the stats. ???

Any explanation?
My PC stats. 1gig of ram, AMD 3000+ processor @1.8, Radeon 9600XT.

Lappy.
512MB RAM, Intel M740 1.73GHz, GeForce Go 6400 128MB

What would it increase by if I upgraded it (laptop) to 1) 1gig 2) 2 gigs? Any ideas?

3DMark is a graphics system benchmark.

A 9600XT is an outdated video card.

The results reflect this fact.

Adding memory would not improve the graphics, it would simply alleviate any inadequacy in RAM if there were applications that demanded it. It's unlikey, though possible, that you use apps or combinations of apps, that require more than 1gb of ram for the smooth running of your PC or graphics display.

Adding ram to increase graphics performance is like buying ink for a printer that's run out of paper.
