6600GT or X1600?

Postby pengyman89 » Sun Jul 30, 2006 8:34 pm

Hey all, right now i'm running a GeForce 6600GT 128mb (not overclocked) in my pc. I found a Radeon X1600 pro with 512mb for around $220 CDN. I'm interested in the card but wanted to get a more informed oppinion about it first. Both cards are PCI-E. Would it be a worthwhile investment or would i be better off looking somewhere else?

Thanks

sorry for the double post, i was looking at the site of a local computer store that was advertising what looks like an X1600 but this one is listed for only $150.

they call it; ASUS EXTREME AX1600PRO/TD, RADEON X1600 PRO, 512MB

i don't know what to make of that, is there any difference between it and what i mentioned above?

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Sorry, but the 6600GT is okay, but don't tutch the X1600 for flight simming. Look for the eVGA or XFS 6800XT. About the same price, but about twice the card. It comes in both PCI-E and AGP, so your good on ithor end.

Cheers

Nooooooo!!!

X1600 is actually slower than 6600GT.

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/230/8

6800XT is faster than 6600GT but slower than 6800GS. I don't think it is worth upgrading from a 6600GT to 6800XT.

For $220 canadian the best card you can get is the 7600GT. It is faster the 6600GT, X1600, X1800, 6800XT, and 6800GS.

If you want to know how fast a card is look for online reviews.

Didn't think about the 7600GS.

If your willing to do online, and have the cash (which you aparently do) go for that.
