ATI 3D Problem

Postby andrewonice » Mon Jul 24, 2006 10:50 am

Hi, I have a ATI 3D Rage IIC AGP Video card but Directx Wont work with it. I went to the directx diag thing and it says direct 3d acceleration is not avalible. I went on their website and several others and there isn't a single driver for XP. So for now I have to play FS2002 game in safe mode. Any suggestions/Thoughts?

Running FS2002 on ATI 3D Rage? What Kind of computer do you have? What kind of frame rates do you get?

My suggestion is to get a new video card. ATI 3D Rage is so old that by the time Windows XP came out nobody was using it so no drivers were made.

However, the ATI 3D Rage makes you look more elitist.

I have an Acer PII 733. I have very bad frame rates, not sure of the exact number. Thanks for replying,  I was aware that this was old, but not that old. I'll look for a new cheap one. Any Ideas?

I would suggest Geforce FX5200, they are really cheap at around $40. Geforce FX5500 and Geforce 6200 are also cheap at around $50. Geforce 4 MX could also work although it is a little slower than the cards above.

Also I would find out if your motherboard supports 4X or 8X AGP. I'm not 100% sure if these cards can run in 2X mode. Can somebody shed some light on this subject?

I was able to play FS2002 on a PII350. It wasn't great but it was playable.
