Video Card Problems????

Postby ludwig » Wed Jul 19, 2006 11:34 pm

Gotta' rendering problem, gents, but I don't know the source of it.  My video card is an nVidia geForce 6800, 2gigs of ram on the motherboard, 2.8 P4.  Usually in the middle of the monitor (19"flat panel Dell) I get this effect which I can only describe as the look of heat waves coming off a hot sidewalk.  They don't appear on the top or botton, just the middle.  If anyone has any idea WTH is going on, I'll be forever grateful.  Thanks up front.

Try another monitor if you can lay your hands on one nearby. That should tell you if the video card is at fault or not.

Thank, Congo.  I'll try your suggestion soon.  Does my description sound like anything you've heard?  Interestingly, while reading unrelated topics on this forum I ran into a download (I think) that offered a program that emulated heat blurr coming off the airplane.  Did I understand that properly???  Also, as a new member I am stupid about many things, and it said that my post was locked.  I searched for and found this topic but I can't seem to find an icon that I am supposed to click again to disable the lock function.  Any ideas????  Thanks, again for your kind response.

The shimmering effect one sees sometimes on flat screens is due to our beloved Windows drivers thinking they can drive the flat screen better than the flat screen driver or video card!!!!!!!!
Most flat screens have a reset button or Auto adjust. Hit that and the shimmering will go away (usually!!!)
