Fan

I think I need a new fan.  Lately the one in my PC (the one that cools the CPU) has been running at max RPM and the computer still feels hot after a while.  Any ideas of what fan to get or what I should do about it?

Is it filled with any dust or anything which would make it operate faster?

Try cleaning it out CAREFULLY* if it has any dust.

But you could try to vacuum your PC, it usually helps a lot on the temperatures. Remember not to actually touch the components you're vacuuming - because of static electricity.

Well theres a few things you can do here. If noise is an issue, there really isnt anything you can do. If you really don't care about that, then have a look at 92mm fans from newegg (if you useing an OEM case, Dell, HP, Compaq etc). If your useing a custom build you probibly need 80mm fans.

Now if its your CPU thats heating up, then you should look at the Zalman CNPS-7000CU. Its only $35, but is three times the power of the stock fan coolers today.

Vacuuming PC's is one of the most hazardous things you can do to a PC, thousands of people every year destroy their computers this way, you shouldn't do it, it's very, very naughty.

Ya, this weekend Ill go pick up some cleaning stuff with my dad.  I think that the biggest problem is that there is dust in the heatsink (not affirmed but i dont think ive ever cleaned it out properly)

I might need to get a replacement for the main case fan, I dont think its ever worked properly, doesnt seem too strong

Stock fans usually are crap. I would look for a fan with atleast 70CFM to affort maximum cooling.
