Well the thing that many people dont understand is that 3DMark06 was created to test the nvidia 7 series and the ATi x1800 and x1900 cards, and also dual card setups. Older cards just dont have the power to be able to obtain a decent score. Even I scored only 345 on it, however my card dosn't support HDR and PS3, two features 3DMark really hones in on. So my recomendation is to only use 3DMark05 until you get the newest hardware.
Oh ya, and if you care my 3DMark05 running at 1200x1024 6xAA, 12xAF, every test, gets me an even 4000. So those of you who have an unlocked virsion run your system like that, and see what you get.
