Need opions

Looking for some help here. Going to get a new vid card.
I have upgraded the memory  to a 1 gig stick

The Nvidia FX5200 is going bad and never has handled FS9 real well ( Clouds the evil clouds).
I realy dont have much of a clue what all the tech spec mean below but thought I would include them.
Looking at a Nvidia Card (TM 6600 GT AGP 8X or a GEFORCE 7800 GS AGP this one will take a little extra saving LOL). Any thoughts on Mfg as the only ones I know of a is PNY.
Im hoping this upgrade will let me max everything out.

ATi Spaahire Radeon X800 GTO AGP is what you want. That or a nVidia 7800GS, however your system will like the X800 alot better, so will your wallet.

the 7900gs is overpriced (as are most AGP cards at the mo)
you may be better saving a little more and getting a PCI-E mobo and a PCI-E 6600gt as this would give you a much better upgrade path.

Eh yes and no. First off, I suggested the 7800GS which is a bit cheaper. Secondly a AGP X800GTO is a better card, and cheaper than a PCI-E Board + PCI-E 6600GT. The other thing you have to take into account is that he is useing a OEM system, so he is going to need a new Windows XP disk to be able to replace his mobo, as most OEMs will cause XP to basically lock you out if you replace the CPU or mobo.

Thanks guys will look at the ATi card tonight. I think anything Iget will be far better than what I have now. I really dont want to go into a new mobo (new term I just learned  :))

And I really want to save a few $ as Im waiting to see what FS X is gonna require.

That is possibly the most comprehensive "specs" list that i've ever seen.

However you want to know what FSX is gonna need, do ya....do ya? Well then

AMD 3700+ / Intel 640 Prescott or better
nVidia 7300GS / ATi X1300 or better
1GB RAM MINIMUM
40GB SATA (for some reason they want SATA, probibly to reduce loading lag)

And those are going to be the minimum, the middle / high end is going to be

AMD 4400+
nVidia 7900GT / ATi X1900XT
2GB RAM
40GB SATA (probibly bigger)

and even still your going to need to upgrade your video card to a nVidia 8 series or ATi X2K when they come out for DX10 / PS4.

However enjoy the card, I know many people who have them, and love them. Also if you buy Sapphire, Connect3D or the ATi brand of the card, its going to overclock like crazy (other board makers have a limiter). Slap a Zalman on that puppy, and crank her up.

LOL on the tech specs. Sorry about that, but I wanted the pros here to no what I had ( I often see information request and then there are no specs so you guys have to ask what they are running) so to avoid that I went and got the complete tech specs on it from the mfg.

As for FS X Im saving hard for a new computer.

Well guys got my card in, a 7800Gs, and all I got to say is THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!! Its so nice flying in ultra high everything with no frame rate drop. I just have to figure out what settings Im gonna use on the AA and the other (Anisothropic somthin). Butwhat a difference.
