Well RAM would be the best thing for it. However upgradeing a laptop is costly, and very dangerous. Your best off upgradeing your RAM to 1GB thn leaving it. Your other option is to sell the lappy (should pull in $400), and buy a desktop, which we can help you with.

Just how dangerous could it be to slot some ram into the underside of a laptop?

I have these cartoon visions of Cameron's blackened face and burnt hair with an inverted smoking laptop on the desk in front of him  ;D

Lolz. No RAM is very easy. Its changeing the GPU / CPU that becomes very trickey.

Okay. Well about a month ago I had gotten two new cathode UV lights for my case. I had everything in the case except the DVD drive plugged in (was useing that plug for the CCFLs at the moment). Anyway I liked what I saw, and since it was about 11:30PM was a bit tired and forgot that you can plug in
a dvd drive with the comp on. I did so anyway, and when I did there was a small spark between the molex, and the DVD. So I fully plug in the DVD, and reboot, This is when I see my whole case fill up with smoke (at this point my side panel was back on. So I rip that off, and turn off the system and start venting the smoke out of the case. Thankfully the only things damaged were the molex extender for the DVD, and the dvd itself (both were verry melted together, and charred).

Think twice cut once kids.

Cheers
