Need some more advice

Well the system i have now is doing OK, but the sim is still slow in alot of aspects.
(Look at my sig)

My current set-up cannot really handle everything i throw at it....

So one of the main things im going to upgrade is the CPU. I'm going to upgrade this to a Amd 64 3700+, because of this i also need a new Motherboard...now this is where i need help.
I have found the Motherboard i think i like (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... uid=101701), but the Graphics card i have now is a 6600GT AGP Card...The Motherboard doesn't have an AGP Slot, so obviously i need a PCI-E Graphics card to go with the new motherboard. I was thinking of going for a AGP board and keeping the 6600GT, but what if i want to upgrade my Graphics card in the future? More than likely it will be PCI-E card if i do upgrade in the future. So therefore im going to stick with the Motherboard which Has the PCI-E slot.
So now ive sorted out my Motherboard, and CPU , i need a new Graphics card.

Ive been looking at the 6800GS model (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... _uid=98817), and they seem pretty cool...
...Would there be a big difference compared to my 6600GT AGP i have now?

If the 6800GS isn't alot better than my current 6600GT, i was looking at the 7800GT, surely thats got to be good?

If I were building today I would have gone with the 939 3700+ San Deago or the 4000+ Clawhammer, so good choice there. As for the board, I have no problems with it, except that the northbridge is fan cooled, and not passive.

As far as your GPU goes, the 6800GS is a decent card, however I don't see why not going with the 7800GT as I believe that it will fit in your budget ($270 USD so that should be about 220GPB) The 7800 series has a whole bunch of features that the 6800s dont, and are not much more.

Anyway good luck with the upgrade, and let us know when you make your decision on parts.

BFG Tech are good cards, however if I rember eVGA are a bit cheaper (I could look if you want me to). In percent of advantage the 7800GT benches in the 6700 3DMarks area, while the 6800GS is about the 3900~4000 range. So  its about 58% (3043 3DMarks) better than the 6800. And you will notice the preformance between the two. As for how much you will gain over the 6600GT you have right now, its 51% (3313 3DMarks) better. If your wondering the 6800GS is only three cards over the 6600GT (The X700 XT and 6800 are between it). So as you can see the GS really isn't worth it.

Anyway as for the case, Ide suggest this The Soprano is an amazing case. Its HUGE (and so easy to work inside) and the fans that come with it push alot of air and are still really quiet (my Zalman is even louder than them). As for the PSU Antec PSUs aren't the best on the market. If your looking for the to then the Hiper Type R is one of the best out there (GeForce, they just put out their next shipment, and have not had any come back faulty). However the Thermaltake in the case I suggested is also a wonderful PSU, and is very quiet.

CPU: 3700+ SD is a fantastic choice, incredible processor and extremely overclockable. If you have a choice between the E4 and E6 steppings (versions), then go for the E4. It can handle slightly higher voltages and temps.

Motherboard: Try THIS for size. One of my friends has it and they are known to be good boards. The advantage to you is that it has AGP for your current graphics card, but it also has PCI-e if/when you want to upgrade in the future.

Graphics card: If you are going to change the graphics card anyway, then yes, I would recommend the 7800GT. The top one on THIS page seems very good at only

James hold off, get PCI-E and the new 7600GT that comes out in 30 minutes world wide. Should sell around the same price as the 6800GS, but it has the improvements of the 7800

Fantastic advice everyone, thanks very much  :)

As for the case you mentioned, i like it , but i think its a bit big for where i would put it...
.... The Antec one seems OK, and looks pretty decent, and is supplied with a decent power supply.

That AsRock motherboard looks very cool, but ive had quite a couple of Asus motherboard's that have served me very well, so i think im going to stick with Asus.

And for the graphics card, ive decided i will go for the BFG 7800 GT OC.  8)

And i should be getting all this at the end of April...  8) ...Hopefully it wont be outdated by then!?
