intel makes a supprise comeback, and kills AMD

Postby ctjoyce » Sun Mar 12, 2006 10:46 pm

Well intel's new "Conroe" cored processers are now in the hands of benchmarkers. So I thought I would share. http://hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx ... =794&cid=1

As you can see, intel is strong in all of the usual fields (computing), however they make a supprising jump in the gameing field, and come on strong to beat an overclocked FX-60 by a pretty decent margin

Die AMD, Die. Long live the intel / ATi combo.

Cheers

lol not even same generation of CPU there CJ, amd is about to launch there new toys also. Socket AM2 will launch this spring with FX 62 and 64 x2 5000-5800. Now these are the cpu's intel is worried about. So just hold your pants on and wait. It's like compraing a 6800 to an x1900xtx, they arnt the same generation. And to really disapoint all you intel guru's go back to 2004 and read up on EMT64 that intel boasts, they paid AMD sevral 100 million for A64. I think I'll stick with AMD, given the fact intel costs more, and is now buying instruction sets from AMD.

Well these benches are encoding..... Everyone knows Intel does this MUCH better than AMD......... so DUH.... Intel will be better in video Encoding/Office apps, can we see soem real life game examples? Not some crappy encoding, I could care less if it to 2 mins or 10 I've done it in DivX at 2 gigs in prolly 2-3 mins on my rig (Look below) and its old and outdated...... So I really dont see much credability here for these benches (I had to do a movie in FS For school) I spent 3 weeks doing it and encoded over and over...... So, Games or Something not encoding........ Sheesh, Cheers, Gunny

EDIT: Did I mention at the time I had a MX440 and 512 megs Ram? I dunno how it did the encoding so fast but it did it somehow....

Keep looking gunny, it shows the games. And it owns there too. intel finally pulled its head out of its ass, shortened the process pipeline, and did away with the P4 and netburst architextures. So now AMD has something to be worried about.

Sorry to be so blunt ct, but are you blind or just ignorant? These are Intel's newest chips, AMD has not yet released thier chips for this generation. Its like you comparing a X800 to my 9200SE, they aren't even close to one another with the improvments between the time they were developed.

I totally agree, AMD 11th Generation should appear sometime this year. Thats right 11th, AMD had made K9, and K10, and are now working on K11 as the K9 and K10 were to slow to be usable. I shall wait for these new chips to surface, should really show what AMD is made of. The new K11 design should allow clock speed bumbs aboive 5ghz at launch, though of course AMD wont do this. Also they are devloping there own 65nm processing for there new chips. Intel just got there stuff out faster being they are the larger company, with more money to throw around. Amd is the little man in Austin that sense 1999 with the Athalon has kept intel's head down, I don't really thing intel has made a comeback, just fixed what was wrong with the P4. Further review shows something quite amazing cj I doubt you caught, compare there new chip to the Pentium M or Pentium 3 they are strikingly close, seems to me this is a refreaser on 6th generation for intel, not a new 8th gen.

No whatever. I have just given up. I'm not going to even bother posting here anymore, as my advice is no longer "valid" or much less wanted. So I will sit in the shadows and go back to my belovid Kustom PCs where I can talk about my true love modding.

Anyway so long friends, and frarewell.

Cheers

No need for all that.

It just seems like these things get argued over like it's a matter of life or death.  Most of the heat is just about brands.  Can't we all just get along? ;D ::)
