Well I don't care to upgrade. I for instance am not looking for high levels of detail, I'm looking to run a program. I literly just bought FS 98-2004 at a yard sale, and need to know which to use. I want a useable framerate, be able to see 3d buildings, and tell the differance between sky and groud. .

Sounds like you want high detail then mate. ;)

Then why not use FLY insted of FS? Its everything you want, but less demanding than FS (and with better GFX).

Please... save us all with this quick 4 step guide.
1. Install and play FS98.
2. Install and play FS2004.
3. Decide which one you prefer.
4. Uninstall the one you don't want.
It's that simple, really....
Jeez....

Well chris the simple answer for that is most people expect that they will be able to get amazing preformance on a less than system. Basically we reccomend what hardware they should be looking at to achieve their goal. Now if that means an upgrade, then do so.

Cheers
Cameron

I'm sure FS2.0 would scream on that guy's PC.  And I'd bet a top of the line PC today won't be able to hande FS15 .  You CAN get amazing performance on just about any system if you run the right software.  He's asking what the right software is.  And the answer to that likely is not the most current revision of the software.  I remember my old 486 ran FS4.0 like it was made to.

My current system won't run FS9 with everything max'd out but does a decent job up to "Ultra High" settings.  Yet even my old FS5200 vid card ran FS9 just fine with medium graphics settings.
