Surrond sound

Now that my games look and play great, how about some sound to match?

What do you think? Logitech X530 for a very reasonable 70 Euros!  :o I was surprised they had such good value.
Tones.be rocks! They made my pc. But unless you live in Belgium, I dont think you should bother.  ;)

Ive got X-530s and their the best $50 Ive ever spent. They have excellent sound quality, and really long RR and RL cords, so you should be able to actually mount them behind you.

I have a Logitech X680. They sound really good, whole floor (contrete slab) shakes if the sub is turned all the way up. Currently hooked up to my Xbox though, integrated sound card doesn't support 5.1, I'm working on fixing that though.

....and if you want 4 speaker support with a delay surround sound effect in FS9, edit the following into the fs9.cfg file:

[SOUND]
SOUND=1
SOUND_FADER1=0.500000
SOUND_FADER2=0.460000
SOUND_FADER3=0.620000
SOUND_FADER4=0.800000
SOUND_FADER5=0.810000
SOUND_FADER6=1.000000
SOUND_QUALITY=2
Channels=4
SamplesPerSec=44100
BitsPerSample=16

FS9 will support 4 speaker output. By default it is set up for 2 speakers.

Nick,

What are the critical lines with this idea?  My guess it is the:

Channels=4
SamplesPerSec=44100
BitsPerSample=16

I have other values on the "fader" lines above those in my file.  Do I HAVE to change them?

best,

....john

I have a question, when I opened my fs9.cfg it just had gauge and panel info in it, do I copy the sound in at the bottom, or did I look in the wrong file?

Cheers

Are you sure it was named: fs9.cfg? The first entry in the FS9.cfg file list is typically: [PANELS] but that is not an aircraft panel/gauge file.

The file should be located at:

C:\Documents and Settings\(ACCOUNT NAME)\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\FS9.cfg

You must make sure "hidden files and folders" is disabled in Windows from the WindowsXP Tools\Folder Options\View menu

The section I posted above must OVERWRITE the entire [SOUND] section of the FS9.cfg file, not added to the bottom. Scroll down and locate the [SOUND]section.
