I'm with Congo on this stuff. A/V stuff (any of it) was always like a solution to a problem that didn't exist. And.. I've never been completey convinced that it's not a lot like the automobile glass company that goes out at night breaking windshields.
My wife and I are on our computers quite a bit and when we're not on.. they're on. I rarely shut any of them down and they're always online. My gaming computer doesn't even have the Windows firewall activated. It causes problems, gaming.
I've played, surfed, downloaded just about every thing/way possible with NO A/V stuff running.. ever..
Maybe I've been lucky (for years) or my ISP (SBC) is that good (I really don't know that much about how hackers do their deeds).. because the ONLY time I got "infected" I know how and why it happened *smirk*.
The old rules hold true (so far). Don't open email from strangers and don't go to "those" kinda websites and never click ANYTHING if you don't fully know why you're clicking it,, and you should be safe.
