Oh Great... URGENT REPLY REQUESTED

Postby Hai Perso Coyone? » Sat Jan 21, 2006 9:22 am

Hey all,
I have an integrated 9 in 1 card reader...Just a few minutes ago, I took a couple of pics and I inserted the CF card into the reader. After that, I pulled out the card, after ejecting it. Now, my parents took a couple of pics, and when they tried to put the card in, it wouldn't budge. It would go part way thru, and then get stuck. Usually a green light would come on. I pulled out the card and tried to put it in again. It wouldn't go. I then brought out a flashlight. When I looked into the CF slot, I saw that one of the pins was unnaturally bent, it was the pin that is on the top left corner...it's just folded back towards the wall of the reader......Now is there anyway to get that pin straightened out? It sucks because then I have no other way to transfer my pics and that was the most convenient way to do it. I don't have the USB cable for the camera either...I also tried putting my Mobile's MMC card and that worked flawlessly. I must get the reader to work otherwise I am screwed......
Regards,
Ashar :(

Can you get some tweazers or needle-nose pliers in there to unbend it? Otherwise, you'll need to take it apart and repair it or buy a new one.

I was thinking of taking it apart when I get my PSU inserted too...I am not in the mood of buying a new one...from what I have read after Googling this....most of the time, the pin can be straightened out flawlessly....I'll have a look into that...Thanks

@Scania: From what I've read, they *may* be fixed...I don't know.....don't wanna risk breaking it off.... :'(

Just bend it back slowly and try and distribute the load on the pin all the way along it.  Using a rule or something similar is a good idea.  Don't over bend it.  ;)
