average computer temperature...

alo, i was wondering, after all the new bells and whistles on my new comp, one of them is a temp gauge, that measures air temp in the Computer.

now im not one to read celisus, but i cant change it...

usually the computer runs between 24-27 C at normal, and around 29-32 C during gaming. is that normal? should it be cooler?

nope thats just fine. Mine runs about 15C but I have 4 case fans circulateing the air in and out of the case.

yeah i only got 3 fans - processor, power supply, and one came installed on the side of the case (lights up blue )

im in my comp repair clas right now. im gonna ask if my teacher has any leftover fans he doesnt want.

Well Ramos I was talking about my case fans (the ones getting air out or in) so if you include everything ive got a total of 8 fans in my computer. And gunny I think thats your CPU temp, that or your internal censor is really incorrect.

Yeah thats fine, it also depends where the sensor is. Sometimes they put it right by the chipset so it gets a lot of heat or they put it by the videocard area where it gets lots of heat.

ctjoyce... If you are getting 15C temps you must be in an air conditioned room, the temps cannot be less than room temperature.

At 20C room temp my CPU idles at about 29C with C&Q enabled.

Not air conditioned, but I am in the basement, and havent turned on my heat yet. Theres also 5 inches of snow on the ground keeping my room cold.  ;)

well then i have 1 fan cooling the comp down.

the temp sensor is measuring the general air inside the case, not the CPU or any of the equipment.

well my teacher had no fans left over, but fans are cheap, im gonna need two more, one for the hard drives and one in te back. Fry's sells them for $8.99 a piece, these are with the LED lighting though, to match my 1.

Make sure you check the CFM. The higher the better (CFM is how much air they move). About 34~40 for 80mm and 70+ for 120mm are good guidelines.  I dont rember where I saw them but they have 115CFM blue LED 120mm Fans from thermatake I think.

Mines got a couple of huge fans. The temperature gauge is cool, I think the temperature of mine is usually aroind 17

Water cooling woulnt do anything for your case temp. Just your CPU and GPU temps. Infact ive noticed that watercooled rigs have higher case temps then air cooled rigs as radiators pump more hot air into PCs then HSFs do.

I've got 5 fans, plus, a very noisy 6800GT graphics card fan  >:( , also, a very noisy CPU fan.

In fact, I call my pc "the jet engine", not due to its speed alas, its noise.  :-[  ::)

However, even with an overclocked FSB of 230 (instead of 200) I get a steady 32deg c on my A64 3000+  :)


Good airflow is essential (with the exception of my Old Intel Celeron ) my front  fans  are intake, the rears exhaust, I have a fan on the side of my case, just above the Graphics card, plus the cooler & fan on the 6800GT isn't standard, and is in fact, from a 6800Ultra!

A mate of mine, however, has a better idea......

His aged p4 2.8 is running, happily, overclocked to 3.8ghz with a standard Intel fan and heatsink !!! - How in hell is this possible I hear you ask?

He went to a boot sale, bought a small refrigerator, threw away the shelves from the inside & thats where his PC resides! - along with his supply of milk & beer!  ;D the power & keyboard cables are threaded through a hole drilled through the side!  ;D

You can hear the slight hum of the fridge, not a peep from the PC, he's had that setup for a good 8months now!  :o
And his beer is always cool.  ;)

Oy man clean up those wires. Hide them behind the mobo tray or something! That will drastically increase airfolw.

Why bother? I normally have the case shut, and my temperatures are fine.  ;)

Not to mention, I just can't be bothered!
