Merry Christmas Sheila (new PSU)

Postby ctjoyce » Fri Dec 30, 2005 9:55 am

Well boys and girls the holidays are now over, and I've recieved all my presents and this year Sheila was a bit neglected until I opened my big gift from my father. It was a shiny new Hiper Type R Modular PSU. http://www.frozencpu.com/psu-164.html Now I was hopeing for a new X1800XL, but this is just fine in my eyes. 580 watts, and enough molex attachments to connect all my computers in the house, its just what any modder needs. The other nice thing is I can now break my 3.89GHz overclock wall to finally hit 4Ghz now that I have a stable PSU (the raidmax one was good, but I wasnt going trust the heavy lifting to a 400W PSU). Well I'm still at my dads and havent put it in my baby yet, but as soon as I do I'll share the pics.

Cheers

Looks nice! ;)
Im not sure what these things are used for, I have a UPS under my desk which is APC and provides me with power in case of power failure etc, is it this kind of thing?  :)

Alphajet, I dont think so. The power supply he is talking about is what is inside your computer that powers computer parts. All a UPS is is a box full of batteries that turn on when the power goes out and provides no regulation or smothing. ;D

BTW GL Ctjoyce on 4Ghz ;D The new 65nm Intel chips hit 4 Ghz at 1.3 V very nice.

Well im home and its in, and so purdy. And I am now running 4.06GHz with the idle temp at 39~40C and load at 60C even. Its a bit hot, but the speed is worth it.

Okey temps are back to their low 30~55C range (this is O/cd and with the side pannels on) just had to reajust one of the fans in the back.
